High Priority Watches:

This is the stuff that we feel will be big in Dec 2007, Jan 2008 and onwards:

Ah Megami-Sama: Tatakau Tsubasa

Amar No Echhi: Well you guessed it, Ah my goddess is back! “New AMG Television Special that was announced that is set to broadcast on December 29th and 31st on TBS. Hiroaki Ghoada, Matsubara Hidenori and their original animation team from the first two seasons of the television series return to adapt new manga material that hasn`t been adapted from the manga series.”

Is what you will find on AniDB, personally it’s not like AMG actually needed more to get the show going, but hey I’m not complaining! More Belldandy for me. Its AMG so there’s really no reason for me to explain since, its pretty much the same stuff the first two seasons had to offer.

True Tears

“Dreams, hopes, and aspirations … are things that all people draw their visions of what the “future” may hold for them. Some are pastel-coloured; others are darker in hue; still others shine radiant and unblemished like the hands of the rain. What are my dreams? What are my hopes? What do I aspire to become? These are questions that the characters of this story ask themselves. But must all of them turn at last to weeping? Must they all harbour such darkness under the shadow of the wings of their hearts? Some of them carry the wounds of the past with them still, the burden causing them to lose sight of their dreams. Others see insurmountable walls between them and the things they dream of, causing them to walk away and give up. And still others — worst of all — have forgotten what it is to dream altogether. And so they smile, smile warmly and widely, in order to hide away the darkness and pain in their hearts … in order to shut out the future itself. But the moment a girl should step forth and say “no more” — that is the beginning and the end.”

Amar No Ecchi: With lines like that its certain this show will deliver, I mean hey … they freaking postponed it for almost a year now. Actually, it was a good thing, now I’m super hyped and I really cant wait to see this for myself. Well lets see, True Tears looks like your everyday tear-jerker, drama, romance anime. Fortunately all of those genres are my favorite. If I recall correctly, it’s based on a visual novel, though I’m not sure if it was adult or not. In any case, the premise sounds much better than a random hentai-game, so I’m going to assume it isn’t (correct me if I’m wrong).

Persona Trinity Soul

“Aniplex’s A-1 Pictures is adapting the Persona 3 PlayStation 2 role-playing game as a television anime series under the name Persona -trinity soul- for a January 2008 premiere. The anime is set a decade after the game, and will centre around three brothers in a future city where the dead have risen with their skins turned inside out. The Persona games themselves are spin-offs from the long-running Shin Megami Tensei series.”

Amar No Ecchi: Well well, look what we have here … another RPG turned anime. Personna has been undoubtedly one of the MOST anticipated shows to come out of the new season. My friend Hassan (Death Grin) was raving about it like a school-girl in heat. I myself don’t play a lot of RPG games so wouldn’t know what the fuss is about, but hey … someone’s gotta do this job.

Death Grin: For fans of the video game, this announcement is one hell of a treat. The Persona games have always had a very anime-ish feel to them, and it was only a month ago that I was thinking about the cool idea of a Persona anime. Set a decade after the game, so I'm glad the original game and its characters won't be trampled apon. Overall, this is one series I can't wait to see.

Also we've got the first trailer for this series uploaded, so [CLICK HERE] to download that!

Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei Dainiki (Season 2)

Amar No Ecchi: Need I say more? It’s the same good ol’ pessimistic teacher and the crazy students from season 1. Will those show a larger bottle of awesomesauce? I think so. Definitely one of the most anticipated shows of the season.

Well, with a bit of luck the subs for the first season will be finished right before the start of the second one. The first season really has been an excellent comedy-series that not only managed to crack me up over and over, but also was witty and smart, and tackled a lot of topics considered taboo. While others might hate the typical animation-style of Shinbo, I love it. Actually wait … the subs have finished … GO GET EM !

Death Grin: Ah yes, The Despair will continue next year. I really loved the extreme hilarity of exaggerated actions that Zetsubou Sensei used in it's first seasons. Added to the fact that there was literally NO ONE normal in the entire class. And now, we have another season of the same great stuff, although hoperfully this time they'll have a bigger budget and better animate it.

Minami Kei Okawari

Amar No Ecchi: This show completely caught me off guard, from the same creators of Kyo No go No Ni. I knew there was something to this show. Comedic gold, awesome slice-of-life series ever since Haruhi Suzumiya I must say. Watch the first season NOW , I believe its still airing.

If you haven’t seen the first season, here’s a basic outline. The show follows the everyday life of 3 sisters of the Minami household, follow there not-so-ordinary lives and hilarity ensues. I mean take everyday female problems + crazy side characters + 3 totally different personalities = comedic genius.

Gunslinger Girl 2

Amar No Ecchi: Nothing surprising here, the awesome-ness of the first season made it shark-bait for a second.
Gunslinger Girl is about a group of young girls who were abducted at a very small age in Italy (oooo exotic I know I know) now they have been kept in a Secret Organization where they have been trained to become professional assassins. Now here’s the cool part, more time they spend training the more inhuman they become.

The girl’s are gone through “conditioning” which is basically wiping out their memories and brainwashing them to become a killing machine, and added the fact that their bodies are re-constructed, yes their like androids. Each girl is given a “keeper” who is their new personal commander/guardian. Both the keepers and the girls embark on missions to haunt down various criminals. The story is pretty good no , its not moe-ish at all.

Basically the Second season will continue where the first left off.

Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu

Death Grin: Adapted from the Light Novel by Yūsaku Igurashi. The anime's about a romance between a guy and the most beatiful girl at his school who's an otaku.

There's a big list of famous people working on this thing. Munenori Nawa (D.C.S.S. ~Da Capo Second Season~, Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru) will direct the scripts edited by Tsuyoshi Tama (episode scriptwriter on Azumanga Daioh, Chobits). Satoshi Ishino (Excel Saga, Puni Puni Poemy) will adapt the original character designs from the novel volumes' illustrator, Shaa (Kyōhaku Dogs). Mamiko Noto (X television series' Kotori, Witchblade anime's Masane) leads the cast in both the drama CD and the anime as Haruka, while Wataru Hatano (Basilisk's Chikuma, Toward the Terra's Sam) will play Yūto.

Personally after seeing all the male otaku problems in Genshiken, I'm pretty curious to see how this goes. That and the big list of reliable people working on this has me seriously interested. It's definitely an interesting scenario too, and I'm definitely going to be following this!

Medium Priority Watches:

The stuff that's slightly interesting, but may not make the final cut when it comes to interest in it:

Rosario to Vampire

Amar No Echhi: Looks like a basic harem, fanservice-tastic anime about a kid who enrolls in a magical school filled with monsters. He wants out until he meets a beautiful girl with a cross around her neck, once the cross is removed she turns into a “super-vampire” lol. Well I don’t expect anything special from this … but I need new panty-shots.

They Are My Noble Masters

Amar No Ecchi: Yes yes I know what you’re thinking, and NO! It’s not a sequel to “He is My Master” … Nothing is really known about this series, but judging by the title and the promo-art, it’ll probably involve some guy who gets to work under that boss-like looking girl. Ah well, at least it gets a few points for putting effort into the character-designs. No staff is known, other than the voice-actors, but I don’t really care for that.

Shigofumi

A story about a miracle, involving Fumika, a quiet but hard working girl who wears a uniform of a mail carrier, and her talkative staff and partner Mayama. The Shigofumi is a posthumous letter, the last resort of relaying a deceased person’s last message to his/her loved ones: family, friends, and significant other

Amar No Ecchi: Actually It’s surprising this show actually looks interesting enough to be in my ‘top priority’ list, but I don’t know … there just something about it that makes me not want to care about it, but ive heard its pretty good. Oh well, I’ve been wrong sometimes about the new seasons’ shows so let’s see.

The only reason this show caught my attention was …. Read this, the list of people behind the show. The director directed Cat Soup, Tokyo Tribe, Stellvia, Shingu and Nadesico and planned and produced other gems as Kino’s journey, Figure 17 and Azumanga Daioh and let’s not forget the hilarious script of Tsukikage Ran. The guy behind the series composition worked on famous series as RahXephon, Angelic Layer, Planetes and Eureka7.

Hatenko Yuugi

Amar No Ecchi: Based on a shoujo manga by Endou Minari, serialised in Comic Zero-Sum.

A young girl named Rahzel is booted out of her house one day by her father with the instructions to `see the world.` And so her journey begins, However, she won`t be doing it alone ... for she befriends a stoic young man named Alzeido seeking revenge for his father`s murder.
Alzeido and Rahzel are like oil and water ... but even still, they feel strangely drawn to one another. This could be either the result of an underlying attraction -- or their shared powers with magic. And so, the two reluctant allies travel from town to town, using their powers to help the helpless, while discovering their own respective places in the world.

Hey … I’m bored, what can I say ?

Big Series of 2008:

As of now, two really big and popular series have been announced, and we're sure everyone's going to be pretty interested in both:

Code Geass Seacond Season

Death Grin : The sequel to one of 2007's best anime. Every anime fan is probably jumping up and down in joy. So far, Code Geass Season 2 has been confirmed for a Spring 2008 Release on Television. A Teaser Magazine scan has been released, showing Suzuku in slightly diferent clothes, the old Zero and a new character not previously shown. What's going on in Season 2? I'm not sure. But mark my words... this will be BIG!

Amar No Ecchi: Code Geass 2, I must say this show seriosuly hit really high on my "ZOMG" meter. Which is a good thing. At first I was hesistant to watch this, but through major bitching i was forced to watch it, and yes ... it was amazing. I am really looking forward to the new season, since the way the finished season 1 left you. I want more, and yes im getting it !

Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2

Amar No Echhi : Mikuru Mikurun run ! Ahhh yes good ol Haruhi Suzumiya. One of the best things KyoAni has ever made. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was absolutely delightful. The wonderful world of Haruhi is back, more Kyon, more Mikuru and more Mikuru getting molested by Haruhi . OMG, I feel complete. The new season was suppose to release in fall of 2007, but was delayed to early 2008, so yeah im pretty pumped. EVERYONE DO THE “HARE HARE YUKAI” DANCE !

Death Grin: Well well, anyone with the brain the size of a peanut knows this is going to be one of the years BIG series. Everyone's been waiting for this ever since it was announced way back in 2007 as a December release. The delay to 2008 only implies one thing, that it's going to be worked on to be made even better than before!

Kimi Ga Nozomou Ein OVA

Amar No Echhi : I really enjoyed the first series, but I’m sorry to say Mistuki is just a dirty whore who can go to hell and burn for her evil-slut ways. Well the second series may be better suited to my liking because If im not mistaken it should be an alternate retelling of the story through Haruka’s eyes.
This should be good.

Death Grin: Unlike my friend above, I loved Kimi Ga NozomouN Ein's ending, although hey, even I have a heart (yeah I know...gasp!) and felt sorry for Haruka. Hearing her side of the story is definitely something I'm looking forward to. The king of all romance stories makes it return in 2008!

Vampire Knight

Death Grin : Alright! One of the most popular Manga series these days, I've been meaning to check out what all the fuss is about. As if to answer my wishes, The manga is finally getting it's anime incarnate, and we all know how it's better to see something animated than read. Personally, I'm sure this will be pretty big. The art style screams Trinity Blood and the typical cutsey eyes that we've gotten used to in more cheery stuff. Lets see how this one shapes up, It's definitely going to be one of MY most anticipated titles of the year.
